The date will also be the start of our very first Giveaway! Ok, I know you are anxious to hear what the great giveaway will be and let me first say that I am totally thinking in practical terms! Remember, I am a mom and we have a very active household with all the sports we like to play! So, I've decided that the most useful item that all readers of this blog should have in their possession whether it is going for a hike, getting the blanket ready for a picnic feast or trying out a new set of rollerblades...everyone should have their own ....
First Aid Kit!
I keep one in my car at all times. If you have a son like mine (your own version of Curious George) well, then I think it should be in yours as well! Now that I know you can mend yourself or your loved one with a band-aid or at least fix yourself up enough to make the trip to urgent care if needed, you should be able to treat yourself to something fun!
Before you think "What? A First Aid kit?" there is also something else that goes with it....
A $25 Visa Gift Card!
Treat yourself to something nice...new gear for the bike...some new hiking socks...a good book or two, heck maybe even a new pair of shades...
Spring time is full of "new" things to explore and discover.
Now for the easy part!
To enter this giveaway, leave a comment on this blog any time between Saturday, March 20th and Saturday, March 27th sharing: "What does spring mean to you?"
To get an extra bonus, sign up to follow Mom Got Blog! If you already do, ask a friend to follow!
The winner will be chosen randomly from the comments left on the blog and will be announced on Monday, March 29th.
Good Luck!
**The giveaway provided was not paid for by Johnson & Johnson or Visa. **

"What does spring mean to me?" It means the flowers are springing, the buds are springing and I am springing full speed ahead. The house gets it's spring cleaning. The windows get opened to let that spring air in and the old winter air out. The big bulky sweaters are replaced by a cute spring jacket. Everything feels new. It seems everyone smiles more during the change of season. It is a happy time.
ReplyDeleteSpring to me means the start of allergy season. ;-) My favorite season is fall.

Cool idea Kelly!
ReplyDeleteSpring means that all the things that I didn't get accomplished last year are now possible once again. I AM going to lay in that flower bed, I AM going to work out more regularly, I WILL be fit for skating by the fall, the list goes on and on. Spring means I get another chance. Bring it on.

Spring means chalk on the driveway, wiffle balls and bats in the yard, and hours at the ball field (which I love)! It's also a time to see how big the little ones in the neighborhood have gotten over the winter.
ReplyDeleteHappy Spring Kelly!

Spring means hanging the clothes out to dry on an old-fashioned line. Fresh sheets that smell like spring are the best! If my youngest son is not home, then I know he's down fishing at the creek. Spring evenings mean 'light' and the ability to enjoy a run, walk or bike ride after dinner.
ReplyDeleteTina
Spring to me means that everything is "greening" up, flowers are starting to show their beauty.
ReplyDeleteI love this all because I'm a natural beauty lover.
It also means that gardening is right around the corner!

ReplyDeleteWhat spring means to me is time to get out and plant, plant, plant. We own a mini farm and we like to plant a garden that will supply us, neighbors, friends or whoever is in need with fresh fruits and vegetables. We also raise our own chickens for fresh eggs and we like to sit on the porch and watch the chicken peck and play.

ReplyDeleteWow! Great responses!
ReplyDeleteI hear you Mami2jcn- my eyes have been watering already-just waiting for the nose to follow...
And I agree with many of you with getting outside in the fresh air and enjoying the warmer weather!
Cheryl-I wish I could grow my own veggies-I do not have a green thumb at all! I would love to have you as my neighbor! :)
Ah... Spring...when the warm glow of the sun pulls back winter's well worn blanket and the boys of summer make their reappearance in their brightly colored uniforms that cover their steroid enhanced bodies! Hearing the crack of the bat and watching the flight of the ball against the brilliant blue sky makes even the aged young at heart. Baseball's timeless premise transports us back to our yourth when our heroes were making acrobatic catches in the outfield or getting a hit in the bottom of the ninth. Spring reminds us of a simpler time, when the glow of the street lights told us it was time to head home for dinner. But most of all, Spring reminds us that the joys of Summer are peaking around the corner!
ReplyDeleteOr.... it simply means winning Kelly's Spring Giveaway!
Spring......... A time when all the dirt, salt, slush and assorted crap mixed in with the snow finally gets cleaned up. A time to tune up the bike and renew a commitment to get rid of winter's accumulated fat. A time when my allergies go off the charts, but hey, at least I'm not freezing my buns off. A time to remind myself that I feel a lot younger than my age.

Spring? It means getting back out on the bike with Kelly and Alison so that all can be right with the world. It means that Desolation swims and Tinney's ribs (if we ever manage to get any) with Amy are not too far away. It means that school is about to close for the year (though this year I think we may never have that long break). It means I can commute to work by bike again and it also means lots of YARDWORK.
ReplyDeleteAlison, you are too much!! Hahah! ;)
ReplyDeleteHans- Yes! Glad to hear you will be on your bike this season...
and Lisa, can't wait to ride this summer and try those Tinney's ribs! (Ribs are one of my favorites!)
To me Spring is all about renewal. I like to clean and air out the house, get rid of unwanted things, renew my commitment to exercise, and plant flowers and vegetables.
ReplyDeleteThank you for a chance at this GREAT giveaway. A lot of the items in my first aid kit are expired or missing... eek! ;)
Spring means opening windows and letting the breeze flow in. It means fresh smells of flowers and grass, seeing more people outside working in their yards. It also means wonderful weather - not too hot and not too cold - perfect for going for a jog or walk outside. Above all, spring always seems like a new beginning.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great giveaway!

I do not speed skate. I do however walk very slowly which means I take the time to admire the the glorious crocuses which trumpet in spring, I pat the neighborhood dogs, buy donuts and anticipate eating chocolate Easter bunnies.
ReplyDeleteYour blog is great but I am only in it for the prize, I prefer your Italian/American cooking blog, great recipes!
To me, in my homeland of Tuscany, springtime means slaughtering a baby lamb and all the family getting together for a wonderful meal. Tutti a tavola a mangiare!
ReplyDeleteThank you for considering my family for your prize.
This year I am dyeing all my Easter eggs in beet juice. I tried old coffee but with sad results, just a dingy brown. I want to be eco friendly for the sake of my children. Does any one out there have any other eco friendly suggestions?
ReplyDeleteHappy spring everybody!
Yes, opening windows to let the fresh air in is one of my favorite things as well...and to see the flowers! Tulips are my favorite!
ReplyDeleteMFM-Thanks for entering the giveaway and glad you like the cooking blog! Do you eat the ears first on your bunny?
decazzo- Mangiare l'angnello!! Me, no thanks, I'll drink the vino instead.
Fox-Happy Spring to you too. We use plastic eggs and re-use them every year. So over the egg dye...
In Spring, when the light returns, the sun radiates warmth, there begins a time of promise for the year ahead,a time of welcoming new life into myself.

Spring means songbirds chirping as I hang my freshly washed sheets and unmentionables outdoors to dry. I cannot wait for the lilacs to bloom, and of course, daisies!
ReplyDeleteSpring is a sign of hope. Hope that my younger cousin will not disqualify me from this contest simply because I am a family member.
ReplyDeleteI am taking care of my neighbors vicious cats in the apartment next door while she is away studying bugs in the Amazon. I could really use the First-aid kit.
Spring Means Daffodils and crocus pushing up in between snowstorms! LOL. (Mountain areas don't get much 'spring'. It tends to shoot right from Winter to summer! LOL.
ReplyDeleteWell, actually, I love that the days are longer. The sun up early, but still lower in the horizon so that it comes streaming into the windows in the morning. (My houseplants are lovin' it!) Spring means a surge of energy to clean up, clean out, and start fresh. Spring means I deserve some fresh cut flowers in the house! =)
Spring here in the mountains is when we want to wear our festive Easter clothes and cute open-toed shoes, but since the earth keeps going from snow to mud and back to snow again, we have to go out Easter morning in winter coats and big old boots.
ReplyDeleteSpring means buds on trees and daffodils. My favorite sights.

ReplyDeleteAlthough it also means allergies, what spring means to me is a fresh new start, all the trees leafing out and flowering, fresh crisp air. And.. spring fever, the time to start working outside and getting our containers ready for planting.
ReplyDeleteSpring is a rebirth, a renewal!

Everyone had such great responses! Seems despite allergies, we all will take time to enjoy the warm sunshine and the "new-ness" that spring brings. Time to open the windows, stop and smell the flowers and get a fresh start on things.
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating and check back on Monday to see who won!
