Olympians Find Their Place In Art

It's not everyday that an Olympic athlete can say "I own an original piece of artwork." However, those returning from Vancouver with either gold, silver or bronze can say just that.

Aboriginal artist Corrine Hunt has created the artwork that adorns each one-of-a-kind medal that is placed around the athletes atop the podium. What you may not know is that each medal that is awarded also comes with a large scarf that is a print of the master work. Like a puzzle piece, each medal has its own unique placement in the scarf and the medal holder can see how his or her piece fits in to the larger picture.

What a beautiful way to show the athlete how they fit into the wonderful world of the Olympic Games.

  1. I had no idea about the scarf - so cool! But I definitely think the medals from these games are the best I've ever seen.

  2. You are not alone! I have heard from a lot of folks saying the same thing! Too bad this was not a story that was picked up. Then again, I guess it is lucky for me to be able to share! :)

    The medals are pretty cool!
